Common Engine Problems And When It's Time For Engine Replacement

Some of the most common engine problems we fix are:

  • Thermostat Replacement
  • Replacing Ignition Coil(s)
  • Mass Air Flow Sensor Replacement
  • Replacing Evaporative Emissions Purge Control Valve
  • Replace Evaporative Emissions Purging Solenoid
  • Replacing Spark Plug Wires And Spark Plugs
  • Blown Head Gasket Repair
  • Powertrain Control Module Replacement
  • Intake Manifold Gasket
  • Radiator Replacement

Many of these fixes don’t require engine replacement and can be done in a matter of days to a week. However, what happens when you need a complete engine overhaul? How long does that take, and what does that process look like?

The Engine Replacement Process

  1. BW Performance will check your engine for signs of wear like increased oil consumption and wear on the piston rings and valve guides.
  2. Next, we run a diagnostics check to measure the compression in your engine’s cylinders and gauge the health of the combustion chambers.
  3. After checking the health of major engine systems that correlate to specific engine problems you’re having (uneven engine operation, increased noise, etc), BW Performance can determine whether individual repairs are needed or whether a full engine overhaul is required.
  4. In the event of a full engine overhaul, BW will reuse any parts from the original engine that are in good working order while installing new parts to replace faulty engine elements.
